TUNNELS ttrpg
The Underdirt Never Neglects Excessive Lost Souls
A century or so ago, the surface of the planet was razed by its nearest star, purging all life unsheltered. So we went below. Sub-surface. We discovered that there is so much in Underdirt that wants us dead.
But we’re used to that. Hostility is not an unfamiliar feeling. No, what scares us is that among all the creatures and oddities that don’t want us here…
there is something, deeper, that does.
Delve
TUNNELS is a ttrpg about living below the surface of a planet, surviving and exploring the seemingly infinite expanse of Underdirt. There are 9 levels of depth, each one stranger and more dangerous than the last. As a Tunneler, your job is to gear up and make your way through the dirt, Fortifying passageways and clearing Hollows of increasing numbers of strange entities.
Discover
It’s no secret that there is something at the center of the planet. Something that draws Tunnelers near. And its pull is stronger the deeper they go. Very few come back, and those that do aren’t quite the same. What lies at the core of Underdirt? Why does it want us to stay below?
And can we do anything about it?
Creatures, oddities, omens, warring factions, sub-surface lightning… there are so many things hidden in the dirt and dark.
Destroy
One of the primary mechanics in TUNNELS is card stacking. This acts as a physical representation of the Fortifications that Tunnelers must build to keep tunnels from collapsing and causing cave-ins. But Tremors always threaten in a world below. One of the main mechanic loops involves gaining resources from collapsed Fortifications, so you’ll have to decide when to protect your builds… and when to destroy them.
Dynamic
The unspeakable horrors at the center of Underdirt each have their own ways of luring Tunnelers in, and terrifying effects on the world. Each horror affects the levels of depth differently, providing a unique experience upon each playthrough.
There is SO much more to this game, and it’s still very much being developed. Art will be making its way into the pipeline come August, and a Kickstarter will follow closely behind. For those of you still interested in Islegrown, not to worry; it is still being worked on, and art is coming along nicely, as well as conversations with the manufacturer. We’re so excited to bring these projects to life!
Until next time!
